Course Description:The American Heart Association's Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support course is totally redesigned for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient, whether in or out of hospital. Through the ACLS course, providers will enhance their skills in the treatment of the adult victim of a cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies. ACLS emphasizes the importance of basic life support CPR to patient survival; the integration of effective basic life support with advanced cardiovascular life support interventions; and the importance of effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation.

Defibrillation & Cardioversion
Airway management
Rhythm recognition
IV access
Use of medications
Transcutaneous pacing

Course Length: Approximately 14 hours
Renewal Course Length: Minimum 4 hours
Intended Audience:The course is designed for medical providers such as physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other professionals who may respond to a cardiovascular emergency. Continuing education contact hours are provided.

PALS Course Description

Course Description:The completely redesigned American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support course is based on new science evidence from the 2005 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC and a new teaching methodology. The goal of the PALS course is to aid the pediatric healthcare provider in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes. Skills taught include recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest; the systematic approach to pediatric assessment; effective respiratory management; defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion; intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration; and effective resuscitation team dynamics.

Course Length: 14 hours approximately

Renewal Course Length: Minimal 4 hours

Intended Audience:For pediatricians, emergency physicians, family physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers who initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric emergencies. Continuing education contact hours are provided.

BLS for Healthcare Providers Course Description

Course Description: This course is designed to teach the skills of CPR for victims of all ages, use of an automated external defibrillator and relief of choking. Adult and pediatric CPR is covered including 2-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag mask.

Course Length: 4 hours

Intended Audience: For healthcare providers – for example, EMS personnel, physician assistants, physicians, dentists, nurses, respiratory therapists and others who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a CPR course.

Heartsaver AED Course Description

Course Description:This course is designed to teach the skills of CPR for adult and child victims including the use of an automated external defibrillator and relief of choking. Optional content includes infant CPR and infant choking.

Course Length: 3.5 hours or 2.5 hours without infant CPR
Intended Audience: Designed for employee training at companies, corporations, businesses or other entities. For employees and/or designated first responders who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements.

Infant/Child CPR


Course Description:This course is designed to teach the skills of CPR for adult, child, and/or infant victims including relief of choking. The material covered is tailored to meet the needs of the student, for example, by focusing primarily on infant CPR and choking relief for new parents.
Course Length: 1.25 hours


Intended Audience: Designed for new parents, family members, friends, and members of the general community who want to learn CPR but do not need a course completion card.
